11
Number 11
The number 11 has always been special to me. Firstly, I was born on the 11th August. Born in 92’ (9 + 2 = 11). When I became ill with epilepsy when at 10 years old, the specialists told my mom that I wouldn’t live past 6th grade (11 years old).. Wearing number 11 has always been my “lucky” number. Any time I have worn that number, I have always found success from a sporting aspect. When I played in Varsity in Vegas, it wasn’t a good year for me, and I wasn’t number 11 (maybe coincidece, maybe not). During my senior year when I went back to Tucson I played as number 11 and had an incredible year. When I switched to number 11 in college, I had my first standout season and never looked back. After college i didn’t wear 11 until my second season in Perth. My first years another player had that number, so I picked number zero because I never had any handout and worked for everything I earned. It seemed like the most relatable number for me at the time since my preferred number was unavailable. However, as the very next season, 11 became available and i switched right back to my lucky, yet extremely sentimental number and fortunately the sporting success has continued. Number 11 means everything to me, and I want to share that with you.
